Intensive English Program
The Intensive English Program offers students from all parts of the world a unique opportunity to learn the English language in a stimulating academic atmosphere, which is at the same time friendly and welcoming. The year-round program features five eight-week sessions of intensive English instruction, combined with orientation to university customs, academic preparation, and an introduction to life in the United States. Students are tested on arrival and are placed into classes appropriate to their proficiency in English. Students with little knowledge of English should plan to spend at least one year (five sessions) in the program before entering academic degree study.

Evening Classes
The International English Center offers classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) to Boulder residents and visitors. Classes are seven weeks in length (28 hours), offered five times per year. Students should have at least a high school education. Students can improve speaking, pronunciation, grammar, listening, reading and writing.

Global Business Communication
The Global Business Communication program (GBC) at the IEC provides language training and professional development to international executives and managers. The GBC program is designed for active professionals with business experience, who seek to enhance their business English proficiency and business communication skills and expand their cross-cultural business awareness for work in the international workplace. GBC is a non-degree certificate program for busy professionals who have two to four months for the training, which includes business lectures, site visits, guest speakers, business and computing classes, community activities, and special action research projects that build competence and confidence in doing business internationally.

Online Offerings
Four non-credit graduate-level writing modules are available online. Each module focuses on a different writing skill or technique requisite for successful work in master's and doctoral degree programs. Instruction is suitable both for graduate students who use English as a second language, as well as for any graduate student who needs to improve his or her writing for coursework and thesis writing at the graduate level.
